Are you interested in taking the court interpreter exam, but you aren’t sure if you are prepared or not?   Come take a practice exam based on the Federal court interpreter practice exam in Spanish, Somali, Hmong or English-English (for other language groups).  This program is two half-days.  On the first day there will be a 30 minute overview of the court exam.  Then participants will work individually to take some practice exams.  Please bring a laptob computer which can access the internet via wifi or a library card so you can use computers in the library, headphones, and a tape recorder or digital recording device.  After taking the practice tests, participants will receive scoring guides to do an initial self-assessment of their performance.  On the second day  participants will evaluate two of the self-assessments together, and then break into language groups to evaluate the remaining self-assessments together.  At the end of the session, participants will learn about ways to practice and improve their skills, create professional growth plans, and have the opportunity to form study groups with other participants who would like to continue preparing for the exam.  Participants will leave with a better sense of their interpreting skill level and what they need to do to reach their career objectives.  Participants will also have experience with the format of the court exam and will have a better understanding of how the court exams are rated.
