Webinar: Improving the Quality of Translation/Interpreting Services and Medical Care for Transgender and Gender Diverse Patients
**Update: UMTIA will be offering RID credits for this webinar. If you need an interpreter to be able to attend, please email Lucia at email@example.com by Wednesday 8/26 at 9:00pm.
In this webinar, participants will learn common phrases and terminology used to describe the transgender and gender diverse community, as well as definitions and explanations of gender identity in children, adolescents and adults. We will review ways that transgender and gender diverse patients experience barriers to care and are targeted in society, leading to health inequities, along with strategies to improve care and access for transgender and gender diverse folks. We will illustrate ways to provide gender affirming care, and review challenges of interpreting for related medical visits with different communities and languages. A brief overview of gender affirming medical care for children, adolescents and adults will also be provided.
